For almost half a century,
the name José Greco has been
synonymous with the fire,
brilliance, and passion of
Flamenco. As the world's
most prestigious Hispanic
dance ensemble, the Greco
company criss-crossed the
U.S. in more than 35 tours.
Today, the legendary master
has passed the mantle to his
son, whose José Greco II
Flamenco Dance Company
continues the illustrious
tradition.
The José Greco II Flamenco
Dance Company stars José
Greco II and features his
sister, Carmela. The Los
Angeles Times said "Greco II
has long since moved out of
his father's shadow to
become a star of unique heat
and incandescence."
José Greco II, born in
Madrid, is the son of José
Greco and Lola de Ronda.
Beginning his dance studies
at the age of 17 with the
National Ballet of Spain's
School of Dance, he joined
his sister Carmela Greco's
Ballet Estampas in 1982,
touring Europe, Africa, and
the Middle East as premier
dancer of the company.
In 1986 José formed his own
company and toured Europe
and Japan. After an extended
engagement in Monte Carlo,
he returned to Spain to
appear as guest artist with
Mario Maya's Flamenco Ballet
and star as "El Ginete
Caballo" (The Death Rider)
in the acclaimed production
of Garcia Lorca's "Amargo."
